What Does Revival Look Like ?

Home > Pastor's Blog > What Does Revival Look Like ?

On Wednesday Night, April 27th, we will be studying “Revival.” Revival is a popular topic in Christian circles these days. As you read the news and note the political, economic, safety, and moral troubles in our nation – Christians often conclude their discussions by saying “America needs a Revival.” What kind of Revival are we talking about? Does “Revival” mean an improvement in the Job market? or a Victory by our political party? or a new strategy in foreign policy? or a return to the simple life of “Mayberry?”

Most Christians are familiar with the Revival Formula from 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” What does that mean? What would “Revival” look like? What would our Church, our Community, our Nation look like if it were suddenly REVIVED?

In our history books there are some accounts of nation wide revivals like the 1st & 2nd Great Awakening – but the most recent one of those was 240 years ago. For the last 50 years or so – a “Revival” has been redefined as a 3 or 4 day meeting with a guest preacher. Is that the Revival we are longing for? This Wednesday Night, let’s pray and try to visualize what it would mean for America to have a Revival.
