On Wednesday Night, October 9th, we will discuss Vaccination. Should a Christian receive vaccinations and/or have their children vaccinated? In recent years, this has become a Hot Topic even among Christians.

Back in 1955 when Dr. Jonas Salk produced the polio vaccine to prevent that crippling disease, Salk was considered a miracle worker. His work led to vaccines that prevented a host of other diseases. The government health agencies encourage people to be vaccinated. Schools require vaccines before children can be enrolled. The military requires enlistees to be vaccinated.

Sixty years later, some people are resisting the idea of vaccination. Since many of these childhood diseases have been eradicated by vaccination, some people no longer see the need for vaccines. Some Christians even see vaccination as a sin. Since many of these diseases were caused by viruses, scientists must use some form of human tissue as a host for these viruses. As it turns out, vaccines for rubella, smallpox, rabies, hepatitis A, chickenpox, etc. have been produced using tissue from an aborted fetus dating back to 1961.

In addition to the fetal tissue issue, there has been alot of misinformation about vaccines. There are rumors that substances are added to vaccines to actually make children sick so they must go to a doctor. There are false claims that vaccines can cause autism. There are even claims that vaccines can cause people to be unable to have children in the future.

Some Christian websites are encouraging people to NOT vaccinate. Instead of vaccination, people should trust God, eat healthy food, have a healthy lifestyle, and keep yourself clean.

So for Wednesday Night: To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate, that is the question.
