On Wednesday Night, November 6th, we will discuss Self-Defense. We recently received a question about the teachings of Jesus concerning non-violence – non- resistance – or “turning the other cheek” (Mat 5:39). Is this a contradiction to the Old Testament which allowed self defense in Exo 22:2? Was Jesus literally saying “No Resistance” or was He using hyperbole to teach us to try our best to be peaceful?

Suppose there is an intruder kicking on your door in the middle of the night. You look through the window and see that this man is armed and apparently committed to coming inside your home for less than benevolent purposes. What does the Law of God allow you to do?
