Thy Will be Done

Home > Pastor's Blog > Thy Will be Done

On Wednesday Night, June 11th, we will continue our study of the Lords Prayer and we will be discussing the Lord’s Will. In the second line of the Model Prayer, the Bible clearly states that we should pray for Gods Kingdom to come and for His will to be done. We are also encouraged in James 5 to pray “prayers of faith” and in James 1 to “ask in faith, with no doubting.” And now we have the “Word of Faith” movement with preachers from some of the most popular TV ministries saying “If you finish a prayer with ‘Thy will be done’  then you’re showing a lack of faith…. Pray with boldness and confidence like you KNOW God is going to GIVE whatever you ASK.”

So how are we supposed to pray?  Are we to pray that God’s will be done or are we supposed to boldly make our demands known to God without any doubt? So, our question for the evening is :

Does praying 'Thy will be done' show a lack of faith?
