The State of American Theology 2018

Home > Pastor's Blog > The State of American Theology 2018

On Wednesday Night, December 5th, we will discuss “The State of American Theology in 2018.” This survey was conducted by Ligonier Ministries (founded by Dr. R. C. Sproul) & Lifeway Research (SBC) which included a group of 3,000 Americans who were reportedly “demographically balanced”  by religion, region of the country, ethnicity, age, gender, education level, household income, etc. The objective of the survey was “to measure the theological understanding of Americans today.” The survey is taken every 2 years for the purpose of “help[ing] Christians better understand today’s culture and equip the church with better insights for discipleship.”

This Wednesday Night we will take a look at how “Average” Americans answered this survey, but we will also look at ourselves and see how members of Northlake Baptist Church answer the survey. To prepare yourself for the survey, please evaluate the following statement:

The Holy Spirit is a force but is not a personal being.

  • Disagree (95%, 20 Votes)
  • Agree (5%, 1 Votes)
  • Unsure (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 21
