The Apostles’ Creed

Home > Pastor's Blog > The Apostles’ Creed

On Wednesday Night, January 16th, we will discuss the Apostles’ Creed. Last month, the Apostles’ Creed made the news. At the funeral of former President George H. W. Bush, the Apostles’ Creed was part of the memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C.  The creed was recited by former presidents Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn; Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle; Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary; but Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, did not read or quote the creed.  The mainstream media who normally could care less about Christ, Christians, or the Creeds of Christendom made a big deal out of this. How could President Trump who campaigned as the champion for American Christians stand silent while the Apostle’s Creed was being read?

As we prepare to discuss this topic, please consider the following question: If you were invited to attend President Bush’s funeral,

Would you recite the Apostles' Creed?
