Should a Christian vote for a Mormon ?

Home > Pastor's Blog > Should a Christian vote for a Mormon ?

Our Wednesday night topic for Oct 3rd  will be a discussion of the November 6th Presidential Election. With absentee voting and early voting getting earlier and earlier – voting issues have to be discussed earlier and earlier.

In this Presidential Election, we Southern Baptists seem to be hung on the horns of a dilemma. We have an incumbent president who has not been friendly toward Christians, but his opponent is a devout Mormon. The Southern Baptist sponsored website – 4truth.net – describes Mormonism as a cult. Here is a quote from the website – “From an evangelical perspective, Mormonism is not faithfully or soundly Christian because it deviates from historic, biblical standards of orthodox Christianity. For example, Mormonism teaches that God the Father is an exalted Man, that Jesus, angels, and human beings were all the literal spirit offspring of our ‘heavenly Father and Mother,’ and that the ultimate goal of the Christian life is to become exalted to Godhood ourselves.”

How are we to vote in this election?

Should a Christian vote for a Mormon?

  • Yes (86%, 19 Votes)
  • Uncertain (9%, 2 Votes)
  • No (5%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 22
