On Wednesday Night, February 24th , the Northlake Community Impact Team will once again try to present a video called “One Generation Away.” We have made 2 earlier attempts – one was cancelled by inclement weather and the other was cancelled by “technical difficulties.”

The title of the video is a partial quote from former President Ronald Reagan who said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”  This video is produced by the American Family Association as a wake-up call for Christians to realize that our 1st Amendment right to the “free exercise of religion” is slowly, steadily, and surely being eroded away by the influence of secular humanists in “high places.”

I believe this video will give us some critical background on the issues that are currently being debated in the Georgia State General Assembly. House Bill 757 – The First Amendment Defense Act – has been passed in the House and was passed in the Senate on Friday with amendments and will now go back to the House for final approval this week. We have been contacted by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and asked to contact our State Representatives and encourage them to support HB 757.
