“I Want a Genealogy for Christmas!!”

Home > Pastor's Blog > “I Want a Genealogy for Christmas!!”

Everyone has heard, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” but have you ever thought you may need a Genealogy for Christmas for Christmas to have its full meaning? This week Pastor Corbin will lead a bible study that tries to figure out, “Why do we need Genealogies for Christmas?” We will look at the Genealogy in Luke 3:23-28 and the stuff around it to figure it out.

Also, this Wednesday night we will hold our Business meeting for this month after the conclusion of our brief bible study. Although it is normally on the 3rd Sunday PM, the holidays dictated a different schedule this month!

To get our thoughts flowing which of the following do you think explains why Luke put his genealogy where he did and why it matters for Christmas?

Why is Luke's genealogy important for the meaning of Christmas?

  • The genealogy shows how Jesus can save us b/c He is connected to God’s promises to Israel to provide them a son and a deliverer. (100%, 4 Votes)
  • The genealogy of Jesus means we should be thankful for our families during the Christmas season. (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Christmas is all about Jesus’s birth, so the genealogy in Luke emphasizes Jesus was a child of Joseph. (0%, 0 Votes)
  • The genealogy shows how Jesus can save us because He has royal blood. (0%, 0 Votes)
