“How can a Christian know the will of God for his/her life?”

On Wednesday Night, Aug 12th, we will discuss “How can a Christian know the will of God for his/her life?” Most believers acknowledge that God has a plan for our lives. There are plenty of books, pamphlets, and sermons hitting at the problem. But the answers sometimes are very different and sometimes are just plain out right elusive.

Some think that God’s will is lost. Or they say they are searching for it. To them, God must appear to be a sort of divine Easter bunny who has stashed His will, like eggs, somewhere out of sight and sent us running through life trying to find it. And He is up there saying, “You’re getting warmer!”

Others suggest it is found via a traumatic experience. Some are afraid of what God’s will is for their life. Believing God is a kind of “cosmic killjoy.” The theories go on and on. There are too many to list here.

One more I have to add is “the will of God is the fortuitous conjunction of circumstances and impulses.” What does that mean?

Let’s begin with a simple assumption. Since God has a will for us, He must want us to know it. If so, then we could expect Him to communicate it to us in the most obvious way. How would that be? Through the Bible, His revelation.

The question of the evening is:

How sure are you that you know the will of God for your life?

  • I guess I am stupid. (Maybe too strong a word but we will discuss it.) (17%, 4 Votes)
  • 50% (9%, 2 Votes)
