The Wednesday Night Topic for 9/22 is the medical ethics of Genetic Engineering. In the last 100 years, humanity has witnessed tremendous discoveries in the medical field from antibiotics to wonder drugs, from laproscopy to open heart surgery. Now with the mapping of the Human Genome, Genetic Engineering holds the promise of preventing many diseases completely.  But with all these wonderful possibilities, comes a huge nagging question – where do we cross the line from practicing  the healing arts to playing God.  To quote a line from Jurassic Park – “your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
