On Wednesday Night, March 20^th, we will discuss what it means to have a “Christian Worldview.”  The word “worldview” means a set of beliefs and assumptions that a person uses when interpreting the world around him/her. For the Christian, our worldview should be shaped by the teachings of Christ as found in the Bible. But the question that we are being asked to discuss is: Can a person be a Christian without having a Christian worldview?  This question is being presented to us by two different people looking at two separate sources of information.

One source was from the Barna Research Group that interviewed a group of “practicing” Christians (2017). Of those Christians who are under 45 years old,  33% strongly believe that “all people pray to the same god or spirit, no matter what name they use”.  37% strongly agree that “meaning and purpose come from working hard to earn as much as possible so you can make the most of life.”  37% strongly agree “what is morally right or wrong depends on what an individual believes.”  30% strongly agree that “the government, rather than individuals, should control as much of the resources as necessary to ensure that everyone gets their fair share.”

Another source for the Question of the Evening is a #1 New York Times Bestselling book by Rachel Hollis called  “Girl, Wash Your Face.”  Hollis describes herself as a Christian on her Facebook page and says “I love Jesus, and I cuss a little. I love Jesus, and I drink alcohol. I love Jesus, and some of my best friends are gay. I love Jesus, and I adore hip hop music. I love Jesus, and I totally read romance novels where vampires fall in love with librarians…  If you’re looking for someone who’s perfect, you’ve come to the wrong gal…. I am a Christian but I fully love and accept you and want to hang out with you if you’re a Christian or Muslim or Jewish or Buddhist or Jedi or love the opposite sex or love the same sex…”
