What would Jesus Do?   I think Jesus would direct us to Jeremiah 36  to look at a case study of Bible Burning

Jer 36:1-7;  20-26

 1^st Point – GOD uses Men to give Men His Word–  Jer 36:  2 “Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the            words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the    day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.”     Notice the Book was Written by a Man – But the Words were Inspired by God  —  making the Scriptures the WORD OF GOD.

 The Apostles Agree:  2Tim 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God  …    2Pet 1: 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,  21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

 There are many METHODs described in the Bible on how God sent His Word to us.

      -There is the Law/10 Commandments written by Finger of God (Exo 31:18)

      -There is God speaking to Prophets like Jeremiah – who dictate to secretaries like Baruch

      -There are Dreams/Visions in Daniel

      -Luk 1:1-2 –The Lord led him to interview eyewitnesses and prepare a narrative of events from the life of Jesus

      -In Revelation, The Lord revealed Himself to John and told him to take a  letter, to “write!”

And in Hebrews we are told – 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son

Regardless of the Method – the Result is the Same – the Scriptures, the Bible is the Word of God

So Bobby Ghosh is Wrong – Burning the Bible is the SAME to Christians as Burning the Koran is to a Muslim – It’s Burning the WORD of GOD

SO – What should a Christian do about it?  Should we Kill People who burn our Bible?  Holy War? Culture War?

 Jer 36:27-32

2^nd Point – Our God vindicates His own Word

-Our God is a Living God and Fights His OWN Battles

-ALLAH is NOT a Living God & Needs Fanatical Holy Warriors to Fight for Him

*Notice God did NOT command Jeremiah & Baruch to go kill King Jehoikim

*Notice God did NOT command Jeremiah to issue a “Fatwa” for young brainwashed teenagers to go kill King Jehoikim   

*Notice God did NOT tell Jeremiah to go find the Kings favorite book and burn it to get Even (which is what the Florida Preacher did).

NO – God said write another copy – and then watch and see if My Word is TRUE

      2Chr 36:5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven   years in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God.  6 Nebuchadnezzar king of   Babylon came up against him, and bound him in bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon.

God “took care” of Jehoiakim w/o any help from Men.

 Even Gideons Father made the same Point –  Jdg 6:27  Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the LORD had said to him (Tear down the Altar of Baal)…. 28 And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, there was the  altar of Baal, torn down; and the wooden image that was beside it was cut down..  29 So they said to       one  another, “Who has done this thing?” And when they had inquired and asked, they said, “Gideon    the son of Joash has done this thing.”  30 Then the men of the city said to Joash,    “Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has torn down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the  wooden image that was beside it.”  31 But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Would you plead for Baal? Would you save him? Let the one who would plead for him be put to death by morning! IF HE IS A GOD, let him plead for himself,  because his altar has been torn down!”

  If we could just talk the Muslims into this TEST –   There would be NO Global War on Terror!!
