On Wednesday night, July 9th – we will be discussing Bible Translations and Interpretations. In the Old Testament – Deuteronomy 4: 1-2 we are told that if you expect to “Live… You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”   In the New Testament – Revelation 22:18 “everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

If that is the case,  then why do we have some translations of the Bible that omit words, phrases, and paragraphs from the Bible? And beyond the translations, there is the problem of interpretation. One of the reasons that there are so many Christian Denominations, Cults, and “Study Bibles” is because there are so many differences of opinions on what the Bible means when it says certain things and often that turns out to be people “adding” or “subtracting” from the Word of God.

But first, we will deal with Bible Translations.
