On Wednesday Night, Jul 22^nd , we will have a “Back to School” Special. We will share a 40 minute video presentation by Ken Ham, the CEO of Answers in Genesis, called  “Already Gone: Why your kids will quit church and what you can do to stop it.”  Ken Ham writes:” if you look around your church today, two-thirds of the young people sitting in the pews have already left in their hearts; soon they will be gone for good.”  He then makes the case that we have allowed our education system to re-interpret the first and foundational part of the Bible (Genesis) as unbelievable – but then we expect our children to believe the last part (The Gospel of Jesus Christ).  However, our children have logically deduced that if the first part of the Bible is not true – then it is doubtful that the other parts are true. The result is generations of people with no moral compass – as it says in Judges 21:25 “everyone [is doing] what is right in their own eyes.”

Ken Ham moves on from evolution being taught in public schools to a critique of the way we preach from the pulpit and teach in Sunday School. Could it be that the way we “do church” is to blame for why our children are “already gone?”
