“Once saved….?”

Home > Pastor's Blog > “Once saved….?”

From our Wednesday night study (12/9/10) of the Scripture,  we determined that a believers salvation is eternally secure. Even though there are many Christians and Christian groups that teach that a believer can fall from grace or lose their salvation – we read John 10:27-28 where the Lord says “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”   And in Romans 8: 38-39 -“For I am persuaded, that  [NOTHING]  shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  And in Jude 24 – “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,  25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory”

The next question – Is it possible for the believer to KNOW that he/she is saved?    Yes – 1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may KNOW that you have eternal life..

How do I know that I or someone else is a true believer?  Mat 7:20 “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”  Am I/ Are they bearing the Fruit of the Spirit?  Am I/ Are they following Jesus – “In His Steps”?   Am I/ Are They persevering and enduring in the Faith?  Reread Matthew chapter 7 and you’ll find that we are allowed to Inspect the Fruit, but we leave it to God to Judge the Root of a persons Salvation.

For our Next Study – Sharing this Great Salvation. During the Month of December, Southern Baptists have traditionally contributed to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. We will be looking at how the Southern Baptist Convention supports missions and the Great Commission through the “Cooperative Program” and our Mission Offerings.
