Choosing a Church

Home > Pastor's Blog > Choosing a Church

On Wednesday Night, March 10th, at 6:30pm, we will have a study about “Choosing a Church.” One of our online families is having to move to a different state; so they are asking for a Bible Study on how to find a good church. I did some research and discovered that there are a variety of opinions on what makes a “Good Church.”

Dr. Thom Rainer, who served as CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources for 15 years, is a church growth consultant. His company frequently conducts polls and surveys on the latest trends in church life. In one of his blogs, he listed several reasons why church members who recently joined a church chose to join that church. Some of the top 10 reasons are listed in the poll below.

As we prepare for this study, please select the reasons you have chosen to join the church where you are a member. (You may select more than one reason).

Why did you choose the Church you joined?

  • Quality of Sermons (39%, 61 Votes)
  • Friendliness of the People (25%, 39 Votes)
  • Opportunities to Serve (11%, 17 Votes)
  • Other - Please Comment (10%, 16 Votes)
  • Style of Music (8%, 13 Votes)
  • Children / Youth Programs (8%, 12 Votes)

Total Voters: 79
