Is Socialism compatible with Christianity?

Home > Pastor's Blog > Is Socialism compatible with Christianity?

On Wednesday Night, November 11th, at 6:30pm, we will try to answer the question “Is Socialism compatible with Christianity?”  On November 3rd, over 76 million people voted for Joe Biden to become the next president of the United States. As we noted in our pre-election study on September 16th, the Democratic party platform for 2020 reveals a socialist agenda. Back in July, Joe Biden and self avowed socialist Senator Bernie Sanders put together a 110 page document called “The Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force Recommendations” which was supposed to unify the socialist and moderate sides of the Democrat party. Then, Joe Biden selected Sen. Kamala Harris to be his Vice President. In 2019, GovTrack, a non-partisan organization that tracks bills in Congress, ranked Senator Harris as the “most liberal compared to all Senators.” So it appears that America has just chosen its first “openly” socialist president.

However, both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris claim to be devout Christians. Joe Biden is a Catholic who according to people who work near him say his Catholic faith is central to how he sees the world. Kamala Harris was raised in the Baptist faith. In her acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, she quoted from II Corinthians “We walk by faith and not by sight.”

As we enter this new era in American politics, what do you think?
