On Wednesday Night, September 23rd, at 6:30pm, we will discuss the Salvation of Children. I have received several questions about this while we are studying through The Revelation. What will happen to children during the Rapture and the Great Tribulation?  Beyond the questions about children in the future, the salvation of children is a subject that separates Christian denominations. Many Christians believe that children are born with the guilt of original sin that they inherit from our original parents (Adam and Eve) and if they “should die before they wake”, they would not wake up in heaven, unless they are baptized as infants to remove original sin.

 Baptists believe that “through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation.” (Baptist Faith & Message 2000).

Therefore, Baptist believe that infants are covered by the Grace of God until they reach an age at which they are “capable of moral action” – an age at which they are responsible for their own right and wrong decisions and actions. This is known as “The Age of Accountability”. But the problem is – there is no explicit teaching of an “Age of Accountability” in the Bible.
