Election 2020

Home > Pastor's Blog > Election 2020

On Wednesday Night, September 16th, at 6:30pm, we will talk about the 2020 Presidential Election. Election Day 2020 is November 3rd – but many states began early voting this week – 7 weeks early. Therefore, I thought we should talk about the Election early.

This election will be one of the most polarized elections in my lifetime. Some of the conflict is caused by people’s differences of opinion about the pandemic we have  endured for 7 months. Some of the conflict is caused by the differences in the 2 major political parties – with the Republicans offering “business as usual” in America and the Democrats moving toward Socialism. Some of the conflict is being caused by the 2 candidates who represent these parties – Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

For Christians, there may be another conflict – whether to even be involved in the messy business of politics. Back around the year 2000, there was a controversy between 2 popular Christian leaders. Dr. John MacArthur and his “Grace to You” ministry who said “the Church should stay out of politics and preach the Gospel.”  But on the other side, there was Dr. James Dobson and his “Focus on the Family” ministry who said “the Church should use whatever political clout that it has to shape the culture toward godliness using radio, TV, legislation, encouraging Christians to run for office, get out the vote campaigns, etc.”

What do you think?

Do you plan to vote in the 2020 Presidential Election?

  • Yes (98%, 60 Votes)
  • Undecided (2%, 1 Votes)
  • No (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 61
