Living in The Spirit

Home > Pastor's Blog > Living in The Spirit

On Wednesday Night, Aug 26th, at 6:30pm, we will discuss what it means to live the Spirit Filled Life. In Romans 8, we get a description of what it means to live the Spirit Filled Life. It means that we are “in Christ” and that He is in us by the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells and fulfills us. He frees us from the law of sin and death. He gives us life and peace. He leads us away from sin into Christlikeness. He makes us children of God. He gives us the hope of a future in Heaven. He helps us pray according to the will of God. And even if we must endure suffering, He works all things (even the hurtful things) together for our good – so that we are victorious – we are “more than conquerors” – because of the great love that He has for us.

However, this kind of Spiritual Living does not seem to be the Christian norm. I regularly hear from Christians who are fearful and anxious instead of peaceful, who struggle with the entanglements of sin, who are filled with doubts instead of hope, who say their “prayers don’t seem to get above the ceiling”, who instead of feeling the “thrill of victory” say they struggle daily with the “agony of defeat.”

That will be our Wednesday Night Question of the Week:
