On Wednesday Night, October 16th, we will discuss how to clearly and concisely Share the Gospel. There are dozens of methods and techniques that have been developed over the years for telling people the “Good News” about Jesus Christ. But after years of teaching, trial, and error, most Christians are still not very confident in sharing the Gospel of Christ with someone who is not a Christian. Lifeway Research did a survey of Christians and found that 75% say they “feel comfortable sharing their belief in Christ with someone else”; however, 61% “have not shared how to become a Christian in the last 6 Months.”

In order to get down to the simple essentials of the Gospel, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, J. D. Greear, has encouraged us to put together a Gospel presentation in 100 words or less. He is not trivializing the Gospel with this request. This is a very practical exercise – because we live in a fast paced world and often we do not have a hour to share with someone. We may only have a 15 minute break at work. We may only be allowed to visit for 5 minutes in ICU. We may meet someone in an aisle or in the checkout line at the grocery store. Also, social media is training us to be brief. For the first 12 years of Twitters existence, users were only allowed 140 characters per “tweet” – now it’s 280. Can you share the Gospel in a tweet?
