“Biblical Dress Codes, Customs, & Culture “

Home > Pastor's Blog > “Biblical Dress Codes, Customs, & Culture “

On Wednesday Night, August 1st ,  we will try to answer some questions about “Biblical Dress Codes, Customs, & Culture.”  The Bible records hundreds of “commandments, statutes, and judgments.”  Many of the commandments are specific rules that help us understand the general commandment to love the Lord with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself (Mat 22:37-39).  But some of the rules which may have been appropriate during the 1st century do not seem to apply very well in the 21st century. Should a Christian eat pork?  Should a Christian man have long hair or weird haircuts or tattoos?  Should a Christian woman wear a hat when she worships?  Should she wear pants or jewelry?   Should Christians wash each others feet?  Should Christians greet each other with a “Holy Kiss”?  The list of “dos and don’ts” goes on and on.

Should Christians be free to pick and choose which Biblical commandments they keep?
