On Wednesday Night, July 20^th, we will be discussing Bible Translations.  Not long ago I was asked, “If the Bible says that no one should ‘add to or take away from’ the Scriptures, then why are there so many different translations of the Bible with different words?”   The Bible clearly says in Revelation 22:18  “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”  There is a similar warning in Deuteronomy 4:2 in the Old Testament.

If you take the time to compare the dozens of translations of the Bible to the King James Version that was the primary Bible translation 50 years ago, you will find many different words have been “added to or taken from” the Scriptures.  Obviously we need translations because very few people can read the Old Testament in Hebrew or the New Testament in Greek.
