What is Worship?

Home > Pastor's Blog > What is Worship?

On Wednesday Night, October 14th, we will be discussing “Worship.” Worship is one of the basic practices of Christianity. Jesus taught us to worship. Matthew 4:10 “You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.” John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

One would think that after 2000 years of Christianity that we would be experts at Worship. Strangely, after two millennia we still struggle with worship and wage “worship wars.” This struggle in worship is nothing new. The first recorded murder in the Bible is about styles of worship (Gen 4). Cain killed Abel because it appeared that God found Abel’s worship more acceptable than He did Cain’s. We are more civilized than that now – we nolonger kill each other but we do seem willing to split churches over worship styles.
