“Left Behind” Revival?

Home > Pastor's Blog > “Left Behind” Revival?

On Wednesday Night, Jun 17th, we will have a discussion about the “Left Behind” series of books. The “Left Behind” series of books were co-written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins. The series consists of 16 books that have all reached “Best Seller” lists and collectively have sold over 65 million copies. The series of books have also been adapted into 4 movies.

The plot for “Left Behind” is based on a dispensational, pre-tribulational, pre-millennial view of the end times. Tim Lahaye has written another book called “Revelation Unveiled” which is his interpretation of the New Testament “Revelation”. It is also his theological background of the “Left Behind” novels. In “Revelation Unveiled”, he makes the case that the Rapture of the Church (which is explained in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) actually occurs in Revelation 4:1-2;  and that following the Rapture, the world will enter what is known in prophecy as “The Great Tribulation” – a time of cataclysmic and chaotic troubles in the world; nevertheless, “there will be a great soul harvest throughout the world” where millions of people will be saved AFTER the Rapture. Thus we get the title – “Left Behind.”

It has been 7 years since I preached through Revelation on Sunday Night and many people have joined the church since then. Therefore, some people are confused when I refer to Revelation in a Sermon and will make the point that while I believe that many Jewish people may be saved during the Tribulation – I do not believe that any Gentiles (Non-Jews) will be saved after the Rapture. I believe according to Luke 21:24 that when the Rapture of the Church occurs that “the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” And again, in Romans 11:25-26 the Bible says “blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” In my understanding of the Bible – if you are a Gentile and you are “Left Behind”, you are in serious trouble. That’s why I encourage people to make their “call and election sure” while it is still called TODAY!

So this will be our question for the evening:

Will there be a World Wide Soul Harvest Revival after the Rapture?

  • No (84%, 16 Votes)
  • Not Sure (11%, 2 Votes)
  • Yes (5%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 19
