On Wednesday Night, June 3^rd , we will discuss “How well do you know God?”  Last week, we looked at some statistics from Pew Research that said the number of Americans who call themselves “Christian” is at an all time low of 71% while the number of “Nones” is rising at 23%. During my research of the topic, I saw some numbers from Harris polls that dug a little deeper into the 71%.

The Harris Poll from 2013 found that 74% of Americans say they believe in God. Of these “Believers”:

-72% believe in Miracles, but only 29% believe that God is in control of what happens on earth.

-68% believe that Jesus is God, but only 57% believe Jesus was born of a virgin.

-68% believe in Heaven, but only 58% believe there’s a Hell.

-36% believe in Creationism, while 47% believe in Evolution.

-39% believe God is a Male, 1% believe God is a Female, 31 % say God is neither Male or Female

-48% believe the Bible is the Word of God.

The survey also found that “42% of Americans believe in ghosts, 36% believe in UFOs, 29% believe in astrology, 26% believe in witches and 24% believe in reincarnation (that they were once another person).” The Harris group also asked about “Blessed Assurance” – How CERTAIN are you that there is a God? 54% were “absolutely certain,” and 14% “somewhat certain.”

From the Harris Poll it seems that there is a lot of confusion among Americans about God! So our question for the evening is:
