The 2014 Southern Baptist Convention

Home > Pastor's Blog > The 2014 Southern Baptist Convention

On Wednesday Night, June 18th, we will be briefed on this year’s Southern Baptist Convention. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a network of more than 50,000 cooperating churches and church-type missions who work together to obey the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The SBC is directed by representatives of Southern Baptist churches, called messengers, who meet once a year – for 2 days in June – to adopt a unified missions and ministry budget called “the Cooperative Program”, to elect trustees to oversee the ministries of the Convention, to receive reports from the SBC ministries, and to transact the business of the Convention. These messengers come from churches that voluntarily cooperate together to support the missionary, educational, moral advocacy, and benevolent causes of the Convention.

This year, the Southern Baptist Convention met in Baltimore, Maryland.  Northlake Baptist Church sent 2 Messengers – Mike & Becky Rundles to represent our church. Wednesday Night they will be sharing highlights from the 2014 Convention.
