BLOOD MOON

Home > Pastor's Blog > BLOOD MOON

On Wednesday Night, Feb 5th, we will have a discussion about the coming “Blood Moons” as a sign of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Recently, several prophecy preachers having been warning Christians about the upcoming “Blood Moons” in 2014-2015.

There are several references to “Blood Moons” in the Scriptures. In Joel 2:31 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.” In Acts 2 (refering to the prophet Joel) it reads in verse 19 “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.”

Jesus refers to the prophecy of Joel in His Olivet Discourse recorded in Mat 24:29, Mar 13:24, Luk 21:25. The Apostle John also writes the same in the 6th Seal of the Revelation – Rev 6:12 “I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.”

In the Jewish Talmud (Book of Tradition) it says “when the moon is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel. If its face is as red as blood…” So apparently, the Jewish people have interpreted the “moon turning to blood” as an eclipse that makes the moon look red. And NOW, NASA says we have 4 “Blood Moons” coming and they just happen to fall on Jewish Holidays -on April 15, 2014, October 8, 2014, April 15, 2015, and September 28, 2015. Earlier Blood Moons have coincided with bloody events in Israeli history – in 1492, Jews were expelled from Spain under Queen Isabella; in 1948, Israel fought it’s war of independence and was established as a state; and in 1967, Israel won the 6 Day War. It is also interesting to note that these Blood Moons in 2014-2015 will be the last for the next 100 years.

So, our question for the evening:
