On Wednesday Night, Aug 28^th, we will have a discussion about the Role of Women in the Church. Recently, one of our members was spending some time with fellow Christians from a different denomination who believe that women should not lead in prayer if a man is present. They were apparently referring to 1 Cor 14:34-35 “let women keep silent in the churches for they are not permitted to speak” and 1 Timothy 2:11-12 “do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man.”

How do we deal with these Scriptures? Were these verses directed toward a particular situation at these early churches in Corinth & Ephesus – or – are these Biblical principles that are still in effect today?
