Do you have a personal relationship with God?

Home > Pastor's Blog > Do you have a personal relationship with God?

On Wednesday Night, Jul 10th, we will have a discussion on what it means to have a “personal relationship with God.” Recently, some of our members have talked with me concerning the salvation of their loved ones who are members of some of the “mainline” Christian denominations.  They are concerned because when they talk to them about salvation, conversion, being “born again”, or having a “personal relationship with God” – their loved ones seem to be uncomfortable. These loved ones will quickly tell you that they were christened as a baby, they learned the catechism as a child, they were confirmed as a teen, they attend church regularly, they participate in the rituals, they give, they serve, they believe in God – SO why are they being “picked on” for not having a “personal relationship with Jesus Christ?”

If we look up “personal relationship with God” in the Bible, we will not find that wording or phrasing.  So, before we worry about our friends and family who will NOT say they have a “personal relationship with God” – what do we mean when we say it?   Please check the poll below and maybe even define this personal relationship in the comments section.
