THEOLOGY

Home > Pastor's Blog > THEOLOGY

In our Wednesday Night study for Jan 30th , we will be discussing THEOLOGY. For many Christians, the word “theology” is a synonymn for boredom. Actually, theology should be exciting to every believer. Theology is the secret to knowing and loving God.  Theology is the combination of 2 Greek words, “Theos” = God + “logos” = word or knowledge or study. So Theology is the study of God – so that we may know Him, grow in our relationship with Him and Love Him. In the Bible, we are encouraged to “study” God. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  Also in the Letters to Timothy, the Apostle Paul explains the importance of our theology – 1Tim 4: 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Theologians have subdivided theology into several branches. Some lists are longer than others but most contain the following: Bibliology, Theology (proper), Christology, Pneumatology, Angelology, Anthropology, Hamartiology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, and Eschatology.

During our Wednesday Night session we will not only talk about theology, we will actually DO some theology. We will take a paragraph of Scripture and see what it teaches us about each of the doctrines of theology.

To check your understanding of theology, we will begin with a pop quiz-

Pneumatology is the study of:

  • The Holy Spirit (95%, 18 Votes)
  • New Things (5%, 1 Votes)
  • Pneumonia (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 19
