Our Wednesday night topic for Nov 7^th will be a discussion of Leisure. In our last session we discussed whether Christians should participate in Halloween horror shows or movies. We ended the discussion by looking at Philippians 4:8 and concluded that whether or not it’s Halloween – when we are considering how to entertain ourselves with drama, TV shows, movies, music, books, or websites – we should mentally think thru the checklist in Philippians 4:8 and ask ” Is it true,  honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, worthy of praise ? ”

After the session, several people asked me – “Can a Christian do anything besides what is true, right, good, virtuous, etc – Can’t we have any FUN?” Are Christians allowed to read fiction or go fishing or ride a ferris wheel or must we always be working or witnessing or praying or fasting?  Can a Christian enjoy some Leisure without  being UNHOLY or feeling GUILTY?
